Modeling of physical properties of composite materials
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent progress in three dierent areas involving the modeling of the physical properties of composites is reviewed. These include: (i) theoretical approaches to microstructure/property relations; (ii) X-ray microtomography, an imaging technique that enables one to obtain high-resolution three-dimensional microstructural phase information of a composite sample in a non-intrusive manner; and (ii) topology optimization, a promising numerical technique that enables one to design composites with tailored material properties. Current limitations and future research needs are described. # 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Modeling of Hygrothermal Damage of Composite Materials
Composite materials have been used extensively in various applications, such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and aviation thanks to their interesting mechanical properties. However, a substantial drawback in the use of such composite materials is that they absorb a significant amount of moisture when exposed to severe hygrothermal conditions. This factor dramatically affects t...

Six different composite packaging materials were tested with the trades’ practice of polythene bags in storing smoked catfish for a period of six months. The thickness of the packaging materials ranges from 0.23 to 046 mm with water and oil absorption rates of the packaging materials varies from 0.23 to 10.00 and 0.28 to 10.857 glcm2/mm respectively. The impact resistance weight also varies fro...
